Architect, Ken Popham Becomes a LEED AP
Thursday, May 14th, 2009, Process Plus Principal Ken Popham became a LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental
Design Accredited Professional). Ken is a registered architect in eight
states and has over 25 years of experience in the architectural field,
with more than 20 years experience in industrial GMP facilities
including pharmaceutical, food, renewable fuels and dairy and beverage
processing. With his LEED accreditation, Ken will now be able to provide new
services to you, our clients.
The Green Building Certification Institute
(GBCI) recognizes green buildings and awards certification to those
facilities that meet the appropriate guidelines. GBCI is also
responsible for the professional credentialing program. "The new LEED
professional credentialing program was developed to encourage green
building professionals to maintain and advance their knowledge and
expertise" (www.gbci.org). Process Plus is excited to be a part of this
growth in the industry.
Ken Popham is the first Process Plus
employee to become a LEED AP and will be leading the effort to gain
accreditation across multiple disciplines. He feels that it is important
for our industry to provide leadership for these very important and yet
complex initiatives.
Many clients have
expressed a desire to build and operate their facilities in a more
sustainable manner. Some clients are serious about reducing their impact
on the public infrastructure such as the power grid, water sources, or
wastewater treatment while others just feel this is the right thing to
do. The potential benefit of lower operating and maintenance costs is
very apparent, but there is also documented evidence of enhanced
productivity and employee health. Whatever your goals, we can now
provide a more comprehensive knowledge base to help you reach your
objectives. Please
